Pro-business government is a pro-poor government: Former Bihar deputy CM Sushil Modi
KOLKATA: Former deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and BJP leader Sushil Modi today said that a pro-poor government would also have to be pro-business government for revenues to generate for the state.

"I think a pro-business government will also be pro-poor government. A pro-business government will be able to generate more revenues which can be utilised for helping the poor of a state", Modi said at the AGM of Indian Chamber of Commerce here.

In an indirect reference to the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, Modi said "a pro-poor government without being pro-business is of no use".

Stating that land was a critical issue in densely populated states like Bihar and West Bengal, Modi said that availability of the input was a serious constraint.

Modi also urged both Bihar and West Bengal to work together for the Jagdishpur-Haldia pipeline to see the light of the day.

He said that both the states would be benefitted from cheap natural gas which would be made available from the pipeline.
