Priyanka Gandhi, Supriya Sule, Sanjay Jha likely to be in One Nation, One Election Joint Parliamentary Committee

Congress' Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, NCP's Supriya Sule, and JDU's Sanjay Jha are expected to serve on the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to review the Constitution (129th) Amendment Bill, which seeks to amend the Constitution to allow for simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

Former Union Ministers PP Chaudhary, Anurag Thakur, and Parshottambhai Rupala are among the BJP's candidates. It is believed that Chaudhary would head the panel.

The group is also expected to include BJP MPs Anil Baluni, CM Ramesh, and Sambit Patra.


The JPC generally has 31 members, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is expected to decide the committee's membership after speaking with floor leaders from all parties.

Manish Tewari, Randeep Surjewala, and Sukhdeo Bhagat are anticipated to join Priyanka from the Congress.

Supriya Sule, the NCP (SCP) floor leader, and Sanjay Jha, the JDU national president, are both slated to serve on the committee.

This critical panel is scheduled to include Kalyan Banerjee and Saket Gokhale from the TMC, P Wilson and TM Selvaganapathy from DMK and Shrikant Shinde from the Shiv Sena.

Harish Balyogi and Dharamendra Yadav from TDP and SP, respectively, are also likely to be among the members of the committee.

The panel will likely have most of the members from BJP and its chairperson from the same party.
