NEW DELHI: Senior Indian Foreign Service officer Sanjeev Kumar Singla, who is Private Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office, was today promoted to the rank of Joint Secretary.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved empanelment of Singla, a 1997 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS), to hold the Joint Secretary level post at the Centre, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training said.

The ACC also approved his appointment as PS in the PMO at the level of JS, it said.

Singla was appointed as PS to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July last year.

In another order, K VijayRaghavan has been given additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, in place of Shailesh Nayak who relinquished the charge today. VijayRaghavan is at present Secretary in the Department of Biotechnology.
