AKOLA: Heavy rains played spoilsport at the Congress' first ' vachanpurti' (promises fulfilled) rally, marking the campaign for 2014 elections, to be held at Washim in Vidarbha region.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who was supposed to address the public meeting, first in 4877 rallies planned by Congress across the state under 'Vision 2014' campaign, could not reach the destination due to rains.

In another Congress rally held at Akola, former minister Makhram Pawar and former BJP MLA Narayan Gavankar entered Congress in the presence of state education minister Rajendra Darda.
