Prithviraj Chavan stirs political storm, might get the cold shoulder from Congress

MUMBAI: In spite of facing anti incumbency, he remains one of the most popular CM candidates. While he also has a clean image to boot, yet former Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan could see himself in the wilderness soon.

While the results of the Maharashtra polls will be declared on October 19th, the knives are already out for Chavan, who is being blamed for running the party aground.

Chavan's critics say that he has the very rare ability to unite all the other factions in the party. "When it comes to Chavan, all the other factions in the party are ready to sink their differences to boot him out. In his four years as CM no one has damaged the Congress more than Chavan."said a Senior Congress MLA from Mumbai.

The 'damage', Congress leaders alleged was a systematic campaign being run at the behest of Chavan targeting senior Congress leaders like Vilasrao Deshmukh, Ashok Chavan and Sushil Kumar Shinde. "Chavan has been using the Adarsh bogey to target the reputations of these leaders, said a former Congress minister.
