Prithviraj Chavan today appointed a 15-member committee, to be headed by Mumbai municipal commissioner, to prepare a policy.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today appointed a 15-member committee, to be headed by Mumbai municipal commissioner, to prepare a policy for preventing illegal constructions.

The members include commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority, managing director of CIDCO, municipal commissioners of Thane, Nagpur, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Ulhasnagar and Aurangabad municipal corporations, chairman of the Nagpur Improvement Trust, and CEO of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

A statement from Chief Minister's office said the committee will suggest steps to prevent illegal constructions, and to set up of an effective machinery for streamlining and expediting permissions for constructions.
