PUNE: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has declared that compensation to the people whose land has been acquired for the proposed Jaitapur atomic energy project, would be completed before October 15.

He also promised that barring those agitators, who are facing serious charges, he would try to drop the minor charges against protesters of the Jaitapur project. He was speaking recently at a meeting of the Madban Janhit Seva Samiti. The chief minister also promised that the rehabilitation work would be of top most quality.

According to government data, of the 2236 project affected people, compensation of Rs 50 crore has been paid to 312 people. The rest of the amount has been promised to be paid before October 15.
