Goa attained statehood on May 30, 1987 changing its earlier status as a Union Territory along with Daman and Diu, unveils new projects to celebrate.

PANAJI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended greetings to the people of Goa on the statehood day today.

"On Goa Statehood Day my best wishes to the people of Goa. May the state scale new heights of progress in the years to come," Modi tweeted this morning.

The coastal state is celebrating the statehood day by unveiling various new projects.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar inaugurated the industrial and women block of newly constructed Colvale Jail.

He also opened a solid waste treatment plant at Saligao village, 10 kms away from here.
