Prime Minister undergoes eye surgery

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh underwent an eye surgery for cataract removal at AIIMS on Sunday.

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday underwent an eye surgery for cataract removal at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.

Singh, 75, underwent an intra-ocular lens implantation in the right eye after a brief surgical procedure, PM's media advisor Sanjaya Baru said.

The Prime Minister has returned home and can resume his normal work from Monday, doctors have said.

Singh had last month gone to the premier medical institute for a routine medical check-up.
