GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam on August 1 to take stock of the flood situation.

According to the state government's statement, during his visit, the Prime Minister will discuss matters incorporating all the aspects relating to the recent floods in Assam with the Chief Minister and various officials at Guwahati.

He is likely to take up the matters relating to flood management and protection. The Prime Minister will also take stock of the damage caused by the floods.

Congress has been attacking Modi for not visiting Assam during the recent wave of flood. According to state government the current wave of flood has caused damages to the tune of Rs 2939 crore in Assam. The current wave of flood has resulted in the death of 76 people.
