NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurated of New Integrated Terminal Building at Tirupati Airport that has been built at a cost of Rs 191 crore by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

“The terminal building has been designed, driving inspiration from the shape of Garuda (Eagle) in-flight with its wings flapping/spread in air,” said a release from AAI.

AAI said that the Integrated Terminal building is capable to handle ‘500 domestic and 200 International Passengers at a time and is made of steel and glass structure with all modern passenger amenities’. The terminal has been built in an area of 16,500 sqm plus 5,500 sqm of basement area.

The airport terminal building has obtained 4 star rating. “Energy efficient and eco-friendly material like fly ash bricks, low-heat gain glass, LED lighting and energy efficient chillers have been used in the building, said the release.
