Prime Minister Narendra Modi nominates ICAI for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

NEW DELHI: The apex grouping of chartered accountants ICAI will promote "paperless environment" as part of ' Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yesterday, nominated the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) along with other entities for the cleanliness campaign.

As part of the programme, ICAI said it would promote "paperless environment" and carry out awareness campaigns through its network of five regional councils and 147 branches. The awareness efforts would include competitions, walkathons and workshops.

The body would also organise 'Swachhata Saptah' - cleanliness week, it said in a statement today.

"We are extremely honoured to receive this nomination from the Prime Minister. It is for the first time that any professional body has been nominated by the Prime Minister for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan," ICAI President K Raghu said.
