Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should not attend CHOGM Summit in Colombo: D Raja

CPI MP D Raja demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should not attend the CHOGM Summit in Colombo because it would go against strong public opinion in Tamil Nadu.

NEW DELHI: CPI MP D Raja demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should not attend the CHOGM Summit in Colombo because it would go against strong public opinion in Tamil Nadu.

He said the argument of those in the Government favouring PM's attendance in the summit to put forth India's strong views on devolution of powers and proper investigations into allegations of human rights violations by the Lankan Government does not hold water.

Raja said the Government of India had done nothing to secure Tamils rights in the last four years after the war on LTTE and it is expected to do nothing now also.

He said the Congress party suffers from its "guilt of blunders" and should admit it openly.
