Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrives in Kokrajhar

Prime minister arrived at Guwahati Airport at 10.30.am from there a he went to Kokrajhar by Helicopter.

GUWAHATI: A week after violence escalated in the trouble torn Bodoland area in Assam, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh arrived in Kokrajhar the epicenter of violence which has already claimed 48 lives.

Prime minister arrived at Guwahati Airport at 10.30.am from there a he went to Kokrajhar by Helicopter. He met different leaders and stock of relief and rehabilitation measures.

The prime minister visited different relief camps. The violence has affected both the Bodo tribe and religious minority community in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) area districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baska and Dhubri district outside the BTC.

About 3.92 lakh people have fled homes to take shelter 270 relief camps set up across the violence-hit districts.
