Sonowal said that Government of Assam has been taking strong action against all forces which are trying to disrupt peace and create law and order situation in the state.

GUWAHATI: Tension is prevailing in Assam's Kokrajhar following the murder of a priest on Sunday.

Additional director general of police Mukesh Agarwala has rushed to the area to probe the murder Nikhil Debnath.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the local police to expeditiously nab the culprit behind the murder.

Sonowal said that Government of Assam has been taking strong action against all forces which are trying to disrupt peace and create law and order situation in the state.

Last month All Bodoland territorial council minority students union ( ABMSU) president Lafikul Islam was killed by unidentified miscreants in Kokrajhar. This incident fuelled state wide protest.

Following Government of Assam’s request, Central Government has handed over the investigation of Lafikul Islam murder case to CBI.
