Presidential polls: Manithaneya Makkal Katchi to support Pranab Mukherjee

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu-based Manithaneya Makkal Katchi ( MMK) which has two members in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, today announced its support for UPA's Presidential nominee Pranab Mukerjee.

The party's High Power Committee met and decided to extend its support to Mukherjee, MMK Leader and member of the High Power Committee, M H Jawahirullah said in a statement.

Reasoning its support for the former Union Finance Minister, he said that Mukherjee was always "firm to support the secular ethos of the constitution," while he described NDA candidate P A Sangma as "self-centered egoistic personality."
