Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee's mega Opposition meet is set to take place to discuss presidential polls and put up a united fight against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.

22 Opposition leaders have been invited to participate and discuss strategy for the Presidential polls set to take place on July 18, 2022.

Before the meeting, the TMC leader and Bengal Chief Minister, met with NCP leader Sharad Pawar at his residence.


There has been speculation that Pawar could be the Opposition's choice for the Presidential post.

The meeting will be held at Delhi's Constitution Club.

Who are likely to attend

  • Former minister HD Deve Gowda and his son and Janata Dal(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy
  • Rashtriya Lok Dal's Jayant Chaudhary
  • Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti
  • MK Stalin's Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will be represented by TR Baalu
  • Shiv Sena's Subhash Desai
  • Samajwadi Party and National Conference will also attend the meeting
  • Congress leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh, and Randeep Singh Surjewala
Who are not attending

  • Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)
  • The Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao
  • All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen was not included among invitees
  • Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) another prominent oposition party is likely to skip the meet.
  • Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will also not attend the mega Opposition meet.
