Presidential poll decision at the right time: JMM

RANCHI: The JMM today said it would take a decision on its stand on presidential candidate at the right time after BJP-backed Presidential candidate P A Sangma approached it for support in the July 19 elections.

After Sangma called on JMM supremo Shibu Soren and Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren here during the day, the junior Soren told reporters that the party would take a decision at the right time.

Shibu Soren, a former chief minister, has been authorised by his party to take the final decision on his party's stand on the choice of candidature.

The JMM is an ally in the BJP-led government in Jharkhand while it supports the UPA in Parliament.

While Sangma met the Sorens in the evening, AICC spokesman Shakeel Ahmed called on the JMM leaders yesterday to garner their support.

UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to visit the state tomorrow.
