President, Vice President greet nation on eve of Buddha Purnima

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari have greeted the nation on the eve of Buddha Purnima, saying Lord Buddha's timeless messages of universal brotherhood and compassion continues to show the path towards alleviate human sufferings.

In his message, the President said, "May Lord Buddha's teachings of universal brotherhood, love, compassion and non-violence inspire the people of our nation and the entire world to make steady progress on the path of 'Shanti', 'Ahimsa' and 'Maitri'."

In his message, the Vice President said Lord Buddha's timeless message of right conduct, universal love, compassion and tolerance continue to show the way to alleviate human suffering in our times.

"On this happy day, let us commit ourselves to tread the path shown by Buddha so that we can build a truly peaceful and humane society," he said.
