The President was on the visit to Himachal Pradesh today where he was scheduled to attend second convocation of Indian Institute of Technology.

SAPRI: President Pranab Mukherjee today paid obeisance at famous Baglamukhi temple here amid tight security even as his scheduled program to attend convocation of IIT Mandi was shelved because of bad weather.

The President was on the visit to Himachal Pradesh today where he was scheduled to attend second convocation of Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi followed by a visit to the Baglamukhi temple.

Mukherjee arrived by a helicopter at Sapri helipad in the Shastra Seem Bal training centre from where he travelled to the ancient temple through a 20 kilometer road route which was heavily guarded by the state police.

Baglamukhi is one of the 10 'mahavidyas' which is worshipped to ward off enemies. Known for its fine stone carvings, the Baglamukhi temple has a stone idol of Goddess Durga.
