PUNE: President Pranab Mukherjee today urged the private sector to work for enhancing quality of higher technical education in the country in view of changing global situation.

There is a need for a broad-based change in quality in the field of higher education to keep pace with changing global scenario, he said while addressing the convocation ceremony of Symbiosis university here.

Mukherjee said private sector institutions should ensure high standard of technological education.

Noting that the basic educational infrastructure in the country had expanded as a result of five-year planning, the President, however, stressed on further improvement in the quality of education.

"Educational institutions and industrial units should join hands to promote a culture of qualitative improvement and encourage innovation among students," he added.
