President Pranab Mukherjee to address 'Global Indian Business Meet 2012' in New York next month
NEW YORK: President Pranab Mukherjee is expected to address business leaders and members of the Indian diaspora at a global meet here next month that will focus on building sustainable growth models for India and issues impacting world economy.

The 'Global Indian Business Meet 2012' will be held from September 20 to 23 and will see participation from business leaders, entrepreneurs, knowledge experts and investors of Indian-origin from around the world.

Mukherjee will address the meet, which will include speakers such as Indian Ambassador to the US Nirupama Rao, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake and Advisor to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations Sam Pitroda, a statement issued by GIBM said.

A host of Indian cabinet ministers and political leaders like Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahay, Minister Of Corporate Affairs Veerappa Moily, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Nitin Gadkari will join prominent Indian-Americans like Harvard Business School professor Tarun Khanna and US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara to discuss economic and investment issues related to India.

The event would bring together global Indian leaders to discuss "issues impacting the global business and how to channelise their expertise in chartering new avenues of investment, entrepreneurship and building sustainable growth models for India," GIBM 2012 Convenor Kanchan Banerjee said.

The meet is being organised by New Global Indian (NGI) Foundation in partnership with trade bodies like FICCI, PHD Chamber and NASSCOM.

The theme for the meet is 'Doing Business in Challenging Times - the Indian Way: Global Networking for Entrepreneurship and Inclusive Growth'.

Ten eminent Indian-origin achievers from different countries and seven business, entertainment, ecology and professional leaders from India would also be felicitated at the three-day event.

"With this event, we aim to bring the global Indians closer to each other and more importantly promoting initiatives that bring them closer home in contributing, facilitating and participating the Indian growth story," NGI Mumbai Managing Editor/Trustee Ujjwal Chowdhury said.

The agenda of the meet would be divided into five summits focusing on leaders, entrepreneurship, investment, business and partnership.
