President Pranab Mukherjee reported stable after angioplasty
NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee underwent an angioplasty procedure on Saturday evening. His condition is reported to be stable, according to sources.

The President was admitted to Army Research and Referral Hospital after he complained of upset stomach and related ailments earlier in the day.

Mukherjee had suffered some pain in the morning after which he was taken to the hospital, where doctors attending on him suggested that he should be admitted for a day, official sources said.

When contacted, press secretary Venu Rajamony said, "He is fine and he will be back to work on Monday."

Mukherjee, who turned 79 on December 11, will remain indisposed for a day or two, sources said.

The President has had a full schedule of engagements for the last two days owing to Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit and a series of events lined up to mark his birthday.
