President Pranab Mukherjee, PM Narendra Modi among VVIPs at Amit Shah's son's reception

NEW DELHI: The rout in the Delhi elections has in no way dimmed BJP President Amit Shah’s clout as Delhi’s who’s who, including President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attended his son Jay Shah’s wedding reception at Delhi’s Ashoka Road.

Delhi unit leaders, including state prabhari Prabhat Jha and state unit chief Satish Upadhyaya, welcomed guests as worthies of BJP, chief ministers of all BJPruled states, members of the Cabinet and party MPs and RSS bigwigs were in attendance. Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal, his son and deputy Sukhbir Badal and his wife, Union minister Harsimrat Badal, also attended. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and party MP Anil Desai also made an appearance.

Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, TMC leader Dinesh Trivedi and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti also attended the event. One Bihar leader had earlier remarked at the reception: “Hopefully he (Manjhi) won’t come.” SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, NCP’s Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel were also in attendance. Army chief Dalbir Singh Suhag, and Kerala governor P Sathashivam also made it to the guest list. The venue was decorated in peach and cream and the food served was strictly vegetarian. That didn’t seem to bother the guests who were busy feasting on the political food for thought at the gathering.
