President Pranab Mukherjee extends Independence Day greetings to Maldives

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee today extended his greetings to Maldives on the eve of its Independence Day and hoped that relationship between two the countries would continue to expand and strengthen further.

In a message to his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Mukherjee said, "It is my pleasure to convey to Your Excellency and the people of the Republic of Maldives warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of your Independence Day."

He said both the countries enjoy close and cordial relations based on mutual trust and cooperation.

"I am confident that this relationship will continue to expand and strengthen further in the coming years. Please accept, Excellency, my best wishes for your good health and personal well-being," he said.
