President Pranab Mukherjee congratulates Vietnam's Nguyen Phu Trong

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee today congratulated Nguyen Phu Trong on his re-election as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

"Our two countries, both dynamic economies, have a tradition of warm and cordial relations and cooperation for the benefit of our peoples. I recall your visit to India in November 2013 and the warmth with which I was received in Vietnam in September 2014.

"I look forward to continuing to work with you to further consolidate our time-tested friendship and our strategic partnership. I take this opportunity to wish you further success in your term in office and peace, prosperity and progress to the friendly people of Vietnam," Mukherjee said in his message to the Vietnamese leader.

The Communist Party is founding and ruling political party of Vietnam.

"Please accept my warm greetings and congratulations on your re-election as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Your vision and experience will surely consolidate Vietnam's position in the world even further," the President said.
