President Pranab Mukherjee condemns Manchester attack

In a series of tweets, the president said he was shocked by the Manchester blast and conveyed condolences to the families of deceased and prayers for injured.

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee today strongly condemned the blast in the UK's Manchester which killed at least 22 people and injured around 59.

In a series of tweets, the president said he was shocked to hear of the Manchester blast and conveyed condolences to the families of deceased and prayers for injured.

"India stands by government and people of UK in this hour of distress," Mukherjee said.

The explosion occurred at a pop concert by the US star Ariana Grande in the Manchester city which is being treated as a terrorist incident.

The pop star is safe after the incident.
