President arrives for 2-day maiden visit to WB

President Pratibha Patil arrives in Kolkata on Saturday on a 2-day visit to West Bengal.

KOLKATA: President Pratibha Patil arrives here on Saturday on a 2-day visit to West Bengal, her maiden visit to the state after assuming presidency.

The President, who arrived in a sepcial IAF plane, was received at the NSC Bose International airport by the Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee.

Patil, who was presented a guard of honour at the airport, left for Rajbhavan immediately afterwards.

The President will inaugurate the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Bi-Centennial of the Asiatic Society here today and the 150th anniversary celebration of Joy Krishna Public Library at Uttarpara in Hooghly district the next day.

Patil would leave for Delhi on Sunday.
