New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has approved the registration of an FIR against AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain in connection with a ₹1,300 crore 'scam' involving the construction of classrooms in Delhi government schools. The case was flagged by the Delhi government's vigilance directorate in 2022. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) had previously pointed out "glaring irregularities" in the construction of over 2,400 classrooms by the PWD. The project was initiated by CM Arvind Kejriwal in 2015 to address the city's classroom shortage.

The PWD was assigned the task of constructing 2,405 classrooms across 193 schools. However, following a survey, the department projected a need for 7,180 equivalent classrooms (ECR) in 194 schools-nearly three times the original requirement.
