Presidency University students take out procession

Presidency University students today took out a silent procession in the campus and outside to demand the resignation of VC Anuradha Lohia.

KOLKATA: Keeping up with their agitation, a group of Presidency University students today took out a silent procession in the campus and outside to demand the resignation of Vice-chancellor Anuradha Lohia.

Carrying placards the students walked the campus and the famed College Street area to raise their demands.

The agitating students had vacated the VC's room yesterday after occupying her office chamber for four days as she ruled out resigning from office.

Lohia was gheraoed for 26 hours since Friday evening by students for the alleged police assault during Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's visit.

After Lohia left on Saturday the students had continued to remain inside her room saying that they will gherao her chair until she resigns but vacated it yesterday.

The VC has formed a committee to hold talks with the agitating students.
