Preparations in full swing for 'Uttar Pradesh Pravasi Diwas'
LUCKNOW: Preparations are going on in full swing for the first-ever Uttar Pradesh Pravasi Diwas ( UPPD), with the state government forming a high-level coordination committee to ensure success of the event to be held in Agar in January.

The committee will be fully responsible for successful organising UPPD from January 4-6 and its meetings could be called as and when required and decisions taken by it would be executed after due approval of appropriate authority, an official spokesman said here today.

The Event Coordination Committee will be headed by Cabinet minister Balwant Singh Ramuwalia, whereas, Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan will be its Deputy Chairman.

There are 20 members, including Divisional Commissioner of Agra, Secretary to Chief Minister along with principal secretaries of departments of Non-resident Indians (NRI), Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Information and Public Relations, besides others.

UP government is organising this event for exchange of knowledge and information among the NRIs and PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) to facilitate augmenting of their bonding with the place of their origin, as also to initiate a meaningful dialogue aimed at enhancing investment and trade for the state.
