PATIALA: Union Minister and Congress candidate from Patiala Lok Sabha seat Preneet Kaur has beaten her political opponents in the war on social media campaigning. Preneet's Facebook page has received 47,000 'likes' in just 45 days, said M P Singh, an aide of Kaur.

While SAD candidate Deepinder Singh Dhillon was lagging far behind in the social media campaigning with his Facebook page having only 13,504 'likes', he said, adding that AAP candidate Dharamvira Gandhi has only 2,572 friends on his Facebook profile.

The 69-year-old Kaur, wife of Patiala royal Amarinder Singh, is striving to defend her family's bastion here even as her husband focuses on winning the Amritsar seat on a Congress ticket against BJP's Arun Jaitley. Singh said that they have started the page on social media in March and "received tremendous response from the followers of the MP Sahiba (Preneet Kaur)".

He said that they have chalked out the strategy to get involved in social media just before the announcement of elections and were quite satisfied from the response. "The content of the page is being personally approved by the MP Sahiba before uploading it on the site," he said. In Amritsar, Congress candidate Amarinder Singh has almost 1.62 lakh 'likes' on his Facebook page while his main rival BJP's Arun Jaitley's page "Arun Jaitely for Amritsar" has 70,853 'likes', he said.
