Preeti Sudan assumes charge of Food Secretary

Sudan, an IAS officer of 1983 batch from Andhra Pradesh cadre, had served in various capacities in union ministries including Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Women and Child Development, an official statement said.

NEW DELHI: Senior IAS officer Preeti Sudan today took charge as Food Secretary, replacing Vrinda Sarup on her superannuation.

Sudan, an IAS officer of 1983 batch from Andhra Pradesh cadre, had served in various capacities in union ministries including Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Women and Child Development, an official statement said.

In her career span of over 33 years, She served in various capacities in her cadre state in departments such as revenue, disaster management, finance, agriculture, health and family welfare.

Sudan is a M Phil in Economics and proficient in four languages -- Hindi, English, Punjabi and Telugu.
