Pre-monsoon rains bring respite in Rajasthan

Moderate to heavy rains occurred in Ajmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner and Jaipur districts during last 24 hours, a MeT report said.

JAIPUR: Giving respite to people from heat wave, the pre-monsoon rains lashed parts of Rajasthan with Jodhpur and Pisagan recording the maximum rainfall of 8 cm each today.

Moderate to heavy rains occurred in Ajmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner and Jaipur districts during last 24 hours, a MeT report said.

Mercury plummeted by one to five degree C during day hours giving respite from the heat wave which subsided in last three days. Though Phalodi was the hottest place in Rajasthan with 43 degree C, the report said.

Meanwhile, Bilara and Bhopalgarh recorded a maximum rainfall of 7 cm each followed by Rohat 6; Kota, Masuda, Pali and Degana 5 each; Begu, Pachpahar 4 each; Amet, Bhim, Sirohi, Nathdwara and Jhadole 3 each; Raipur, Bhilwara, Luni 2 cms each.

Udaipur recorded a minimum of 20.6 mm during the day. The maximum temperature ranged between 26.9 and 42.8 degree C which included Ajmer, Jaipur, Pilani, Kota, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Churu and Ganganagar.

Pre-monsoon shower activity would continue over the state in next 24 hours too, the MeT forecast said.
