PRC issue closed, says Arunachal CM Pema Khandu

Khandu, who called for an emergency cabinet meeting, said due to the ongoing crisis in the capital, there was food shortage and lack of medical care for people.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, whose administration is trying its best to quell the violence triggered by the grant of permanent resident certificates (PRC) to the non- Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) communities of Namsai and Chanaglang districts, suspects “some other hand” behind the violence.

“I think there is some other hand which fuelled the violence, for the people of Arunachal are peace loving,” he said. Itanagar witnessed many violent acts since Friday with protesters going on a rampage, destroying public and private properties. The curfew imposed continued on Monday and the Army conducted a flag march as well. The CM issued a statement on Monday morning that the government would never take up the PRC matter again keeping in mind the people’s sentiments.
