Pramila Rani Brahma demands appointing translators of Bodo language

Bodoland Peoples Front MLA Pramila Rani Brahma today demanded appointing officials and translators of Bodo language in Assam Assembly.

GUWAHATI: Bodoland Peoples Front MLA Pramila Rani Brahma today demanded appointing officials and translators of Bodo language in Assam Assembly.

During Zero Hour, the Deputy Speaker Bhimananda Tanti allowed Brahma to raise an issue related to Bodo people.

The former minister started her speech in Bodo language, which most of the MLAs, media persons, officials and other people did not understand.

Even the Assembly reporters could not note her utterings.

After a pause, Brahma said the Parliament allows the MPs to speak in their native recognised languages and respective translators are there.

"Why do not we have it? Why cannot I speak in my own language? My Assamese is not good. I have been demanding appointment of officials and translators of Bodo language here for a long time. It should be done immediately," she added.
