According to them, the high command must find a way out to end the raging feud in Punjab Congress between state president Partap Singh Bajwa and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
The deepening Bajwa-Amarinder feud led to speculations that the latter may move towards the BJP, a claim that the AICC on Wednesday dismissed as baseless. However, some party leaders say the speculation over Amarinder Singh, who failed to turn up during the winter session of Parliament despite being Congress’ deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, has its roots in his pitch to wrest the state leadership from Bajwa.
Even as the Bajwa faction is strongly resisting Amarinder Singh’s attempts to take over the state leadership, there are some Congress leaders in Delhi who feel given the rumblings within the BJP-Akali alliance, the time may be ripe to relieve Amarinder Singh of the party’s deputy leadership in the Lok Sabha.
