Powerful IED found near polling station in Assam

DIPHU(ASSAM): A powerful improvised explosive devise (IED) was on Thursday found near a polling station in Assam's Autonomous District (ST) Lok Sabha constituency, official sources.

A police patrolling party found the IED at Disobai, under Bokolia police station of Karbi Anglong district early this morning prior to commencement of polling at 7 am, the sources said.

Police defused the bomb by disconnecting its wires, the sources said, adding, security was on high alert in the constituency comprising the twin hill districts of Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills district.
