Power tariff hike fuels resentment in Delhi, threatens to become political issue
The 8.32% hike in electricity tariff, announced on Thursday, threatens to once again become an electoral issue in the Capital.

Although both the Bharatiya Janata Party and Aam Aadmi Party slammed the “unjustified increase”, the latter was quick to launch an audio campaign on radio and poster campaign on the streets, accusing the saffron party of being in cahoots with the discoms. Power tariff was one of the main election issues last year.
While AAP promising to slash tariff by half, BJP promised a 20% cut. For a city that has been reeling under power cuts this summer, the hike threatens to add to the resentment.
