RAIGADH: A Traffic Police poster here courted a controversy when it featured an alleged caricature of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari after which its copies were recalled.

A police officer has been served a show-cause notice over the poster, published as part of 'Road Safety Week', which shows a man riding a scooter without wearing a helmet.

Gadkari was caught in a controversy late last year when he was spotted riding a scooter without a helmet, which is mandatory, in his hometown Nagpur.

Additional Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur today said after the local media highlighted the issue, copies of the poster which were stuck on the back of autorickshaws were recalled.

He also said Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Nilkanth Sahu has been slapped with a show-cause notice, seeking a reply within a week.

Meanwhile, local BJP MLA Roshan Lal Agrawal demanded a probe in the matter and suspension of the policemen concerned.
