However, barricades were still in place at all the entry and exit points of the town.
Local residents were to carry their identity cards like Aadhaar, driving licence or other documents to show the security personnel for their entry into the town. Unlike Saturday, devotees were seen on the main roads in good numbers.
Vehicular movement was allowed on the main roads, but security personnel were seen thoroughly checking vehicles entering the town and the identity of the occupants.
Ayodhya district magistrate Anuj Jha on Sunday supervised the security arrangement.
The district administration expects a huge gathering of people from neighbouring districts in Ayodhya on Monday for taking bath in the Sarayu River on the occasion of ‘Kartik Purnima’, a Hindu festival.
As per administration’s assessment, around 10 lakh people are expected to take bath in the river on Monday and Tuesday and officials said they had made arrangement to handle the situation.
Officials said barricading at the entry and exit points of the town would continue for a few weeks.
