Polls: DMK invites applications from prospective candidates
CHENNAI: DMK today invited applications from prospective candidates for the November 19 election to Thanjavur and Aravakurichi Assembly constituencies, besides the by-election to Tirupparankundram seat.

DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan said the applicants can fill up the application forms in this regard and submit them by October 20 at party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam.

Interview of the applicants will be held the next day, he said in a release here.

The Election Commission had yesterday announced in Delhi that polls to Thanjavur and Aravakurichi Assembly seats, which it had rescinded in May in view of complaints of money distribution, will now be held on November 19, 2016.

Assembly elections were held on May 16 in Tamil Nadu this year, where the ruling AIADMK secured a successive term.

The Tirupparankundram bypoll, necessitated by the death of sitting AIADMK MLA SM Seenivel, will also be held on the same day.
