Polling for third phase of UP polls begins:

Over 1.51 cores voters, including 69 lakh women, would decide fate of 861 candidates including Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav who is contesing from Gunnaur seat in Badaon district.

Lucknow: Polling for the third phase of elections in 57 constituencies spread over 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh began today amid tight security.

Over 1.51 cores voters, including 69 lakh women, would decide fate of 861 candidates including Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav who is contesing from Gunnaur seat in Badaon district.


As many as 14,730 polling stations had been made for the electorate and 17000 EVMs would be used in the polling. As many as 660 companies of Central Para-Military Forces (CPMF) had been deployed in this phase and strict directions had been given to them to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.

Each of the ten districts going to the polls will have an addtional observer to oversee the polling process.
