Polling for five Rajya Sabha seats from Punjab to take place on March 21

"The term of office of five Rajya Sabha members elected from Punjab is due to expire on their retirement in April," Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) VK Singh said.

CHANDIGARH: Polling for five Rajya Sabha seats from Punjab, due to fall vacant in April, will be held on March 21.

"The term of office of five Rajya Sabha members elected from Punjab is due to expire on their retirement in April," Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) VK Singh said.

The MPs whose terms are coming to an end are Ashwani Kumar, Manohar Singh (both Congress), Avinash Rai Khanna (BJP), Sukhdev Singh and Naresh Gujral (both Akali Dal).

Polling for the five seats will be held on March 21 from 9 AM to 4 PM, the notification for which will be issued tomorrow. The last date of submission of nomination would be March 11, he said.

Scrutiny of nominations will take place on March 12 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 14, Singh said, adding the counting of votes will be held on the day of polling.
