Poll results: Parkash Singh to continue as Punjab CM, says Sukhbir Singh Badal

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said that there was no confusion and Parkash Singh Badal would be sworn-in as the next chief minister of Punjab.

NEW DELHI: Stating that Shiromani Akali Dal ( SAD) respected the people's verdict, party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday clarified that there was no confusion and Parkash Singh Badal would be sworn-in as the next chief minister of Punjab.

Thanking the people of Punjab for rallying behind the party and voting it back to power, Sukhbir said, "Parkash Singh Badal will continue as the chief minister of Punjab and the swearing in ceremony will be scheduled for sometime next week. This is people's love that we have come back to power. People of Punjab judged us by the work we did. If you work, then only you would be brought to back to power and our credibility is our biggest strength.

"This is Punjab people's victory. I thank them for re-imposing faith in us and for giving us so much love."

While addressing a press conference, Sukhbir Singh Badal assured that his party would do its best to fulfill the dreams of the people of Punjab.

Keeping his cards close to the chest on the issue of deputy chief minister, he said it would be upto Parkash Singh Badal to chose his cabinet after he is sworn in as the chief minister.

He also said that SAD core committee would be meeting today evening at around 6 pm to decide the future strategy. He said, "We want to get back into the situation where Punjab is the best state of India.
