MADURAI: After lying low for more than a month since DMK suffered the election debacle, elder son of DMK chief M Karunanidhi, M K Alagiri broke his silence.

Addressing partymen at a wedding, Alagiri said it pained him to see partymen criticized him after the defeat.

He said partymen were also a reason for the rout. ''You carry pictures of my family in all the invitations, billboards and posters lending a pretext to opposition to accuse DMK of dynastic politics,'' he said.

"Please avoid using pictures of my family. Just carry photographs of Periyar and Annan and those with true affection for me, carry my picture. If there are photos of my family on invitations, I won't ever attend those functions,'' he added.
