Poll food: Rahul Gandhi basket to Narendra Modi thali

ALLAHABAD: Move over Salman and Katrina. The new stars at roadside stalls here are cutouts of Modi, Rahul, even Arvind Kejriwal, inviting customers to discuss politics over a cold drink.

Taking poll fervor to a new level is a restaurant in Civil Lines that offers a ' Mission May 2014' menu. On offer is a 'RaGa Basket' or a NaMo Thali. " RaGa basket at Rs 90 has two pieces each of vada, idly, two paranthas. The NaMo Thali has dal, two vegetables, jeera rice, missi roti, raita, khakra gulab jamun at Rs 110," says owner Raju Jaiswal.

The raita in NaMo thali is saffron, the chutney is tricoloured in the RaGa Basket. Jaiswal says, "Customers will eat correct, vote correct."

Near the station, Ravi Yadav has installed mascots of Modi, Rahul and Kejriwal at his drinks stall. The idea, he says, is for customers to mull over and discuss their leaders over a cold drink.
