The Election Commission of India will hold a press conference in New Delhi at 4 p.m. today to announce the schedule for the upcoming legislative assembly elections in four states and one union territory.

Polling will take place in West Bengal, Kerala, Assam and Tamil Nadu, along with the union territory of Puducherry.

The terms of the existing legislative assemblies in these regions are set to expire on different dates in May and June, necessitating fresh elections.

The final electoral rolls for the four states and Puducherry have already been published following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list. The revision exercise updates and finalises the list of eligible voters ahead of the elections.
