Politicians may be involved in extortion case, probing Dawood gang's role too: Mumbai Police

Mumbai Police has said that it has a strong case against Iqbal Kaskar who was arrested yesterday for his alleged involvement in few extortion cases.

"10-12 case have emerged wher the involvement of Dawood gang is being investigated," Mumbai Police said in a press conference today.

Cops said that Dawood's involvement is also being probed.


In the press conference, Thane Police Commissioner said that they are also probing that if some of the accused who were arrested have come to India to supply drug.

In a big revelation, Mumbai Police also said that some politicians may have been involved in the extortion racket.

"Some Thane and Mumba builders apart from a jweller was also on their target," cops said.

Mumbai Police is now investigating if they can use MACOCA laws to try Kaskar and other arrested persons.

"We can also take help of ED if money laundering has been found."

While briefing, the Commissioner also said that some sharp shooters were called from outside India and some from Bihar to threaten builders.

However, he said that cops are not probing Bollywood angle as of now.
