Political violence to be investigated in Tripura

A three member committee with Rata Lal Nath minister for Law as the chairman is constituted

Guwahati: BJP led government in Tripura has decided to examine all cases of political violence in which family members are seeking proper investigation.

In an official memorandum D Reang, Additional secretary, Government of Tripura stated, “ The state government has decided to examine all such cases in which the victims died due to political violence long before and the family members of victims are claiming for proper investigation of these cases so that actual culprits are punished as per provision of law.”

A three member committee with Rata Lal Nath minister for Law as the chairman is constituted. Other members of the committee include D. M Jamatia, principal secretary law as the member and Devananda Reang, additional secretary Home as the convener. The committee will examine and make necessary recommendations.


Tripura has a history of pre poll and post poll violence and political violence. Left Front ruled Tripura for two decades till it was defeated by BJP and Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) in 2018.
